About Thesisroom
Thesisroom checks a Master's or doctoral thesis at every stage, from the first topic search to the defense: unsupported claims, broken citations, contradictions between chapters, missing key papers, and the questions an examiner or committee could raise from its pages. Every change stays yours to make.
Free to start, no card needed. Then $9 a month billed yearly, or $12 month to month.
How Thesisroom started
Thesisroom began during Olajuwon Aina's own Master's research. Checking every reference by hand, re-reading chapters for gaps he could no longer see, and guessing what an examiner or committee might ask took weeks, and he found no single tool that read a whole thesis the way an examiner or committee does. He has always used technology to fix the slow parts of his own work, so he built the reader he wanted: one that checks a thesis without ever writing any of it.
Why Thesisroom exists
Before a degree is awarded, a thesis is read closely by a supervisor between drafts and by an examiner or committee at the end. Thesisroom lets a student check the citations, chapters and arguments first, on their own pages, and the writing stays theirs.
What Thesisroom checks
There are three ways in.
- Research Compass maps what has already been published on a topic. Explore a topic when you are choosing your subject. Check a claim when you know what you want to argue. No upload and no account needed to start.
- The free reference list check looks up each entry of a pasted reference list in published research databases such as Crossref and OpenAlex.
- Uploading a chapter, a reference list or a full thesis opens the rooms that can read it.
Inside, the rooms are grouped in five stages, in the order a degree meets them: Explore your topic, Check my sources, Audit my chapters, Find contradictions and Practise my defense.
How each check works is set out on the method page.
What makes Thesisroom different
- Every citation is looked up in published research databases, drawing on ten named academic sources: Crossref, OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar, PubMed, DataCite, Retraction Watch, DOAJ, OpenAIRE, HAL and Unpaywall. Crossref and OpenAlex find the work. Then each registry is asked the question it can answer, and the result names every one that answered. OpenAIRE, HAL and Unpaywall add repository and open-access context and never verify a source on their own.
- Every defense question and every audit comment quotes the passage of the student's own text it comes from.
- Thesisroom does not write or rewrite any part of a thesis.
- Every room has a free taste on your own thesis, for example three defense questions, fifteen citation results from a check of the whole reference list, five margin comments on a chapter you choose, one Blind Spots check and one Argument Map.
- $9 a month on the annual plan, $12 month to month, or $35 for three months.
- Every source in a student's library is re-checked against published research databases such as Crossref and OpenAlex every week, on every plan including the free tier.
