For supervisors and research groups

Know what your students found before they walk in

Thesisroom reads each student's thesis independently and produces a report on each one. You see the arguments that do not hold, the citations that do not resolve, and the questions an examiner would press on. Nothing is written for them.

What you see as a supervisor

The Supervisor Report

A frozen snapshot of what Thesisroom found on each student's thesis, shareable by link and exportable as a PDF.

The Meeting Pack

What was asked, what changed, and what is still open, assembled before every supervision.

Reference Watch

Every student's sources re-checked weekly, with retractions flagged before the viva.

Supervision time is short

Most of a supervision meeting goes on rebuilding the last one

  • 49%

of PhD students get less than one hour of one-to-one time with their supervisor a week.

Nature PhD survey, 2019, 6,320 respondents

  • 63%

of UK doctoral researchers see their supervisor for less than an hour a week.

    HEPI, 2020

  • Nearly 1 in 4

PhD students would change supervisor if they could start again.

    Nature PhD survey, 2019

Thesisroom keeps the record between meetings, so the time you do have goes on the thesis.

How it works

One loop between you and each student

  1. 1

    They share

A student sends a Supervisor Report or Meeting Pack. It lands on your Lab cohort page, not in your inbox pile.

  2. 2

    You read

Two pages of what each tool found on that version: references, claims, contradictions, what has not run yet.

  3. 3

    You send feedback

Type a point and pick the chapter. It goes straight into the student's Feedback Loop, tied to that version.

  4. 4

    They act on it

The student marks it addressed and you see the mark. Their next Meeting Pack lists what is still open.

What you get

Everything in a Lab Cohort

One price for the group. Thesisroom sets it up for you.

For you

The supervisor seat

  • A Lab cohort page where every shared report and meeting pack lands
  • Feedback sent straight into each student's record, tied to the version you read
  • See when a student has seen your point, marked it addressed, and what they changed
  • Open each tool your students share in full, and talk through every point in one place
  • An email when a student shares or marks a point, grouped so it never floods your inbox
  • Your own full Thesisroom account

For each student

Four student seats

  • Full access to all 10 tools for three months
  • Every reference checked against published research databases such as Crossref and OpenAlex
  • Examiner questions built from their own pages
  • Sources re-checked every week, so a retraction is caught before the defense

Set up for you

No IT ticket, nothing to install

  • Thesisroom creates your cohort. You add students by email
  • One invoice for the group
  • Need more seats, or a department pilot? We size it with you
  • Not useful in your first month? Full refund within 30 days of your first payment
Privacy by design

You see what they choose to share. Nothing else.

On your Lab cohort page

  • Supervisor Reports and Meeting Packs your students share
  • The feedback you sent, and when they mark it addressed
  • Who has joined, who is invited, and your seats
  • When sharing is turned off, the report leaves your page

Always private to the student

  • The thesis itself and every uploaded file
  • Their notes, journal and drafts
  • Any result they have not shared
  • Scores, rankings and activity. Thesisroom keeps none to show

What each student gets

Each student gets their own account with ten rooms and three checks. They upload their thesis, Thesisroom reads it, and findings land in their workspace. You see the report they choose to share. Their private notes and their drafts stay private.

For each student

The tools in each student's account

  • Citation Check

Every reference checked against published research databases such as Crossref and OpenAlex. Retracted and broken ones are marked.

  • Chapter Audit

Comments marked on the passage they are about, chapter by chapter.

  • Argument Map

Claims that disagree between chapters, each shown with both passages.

  • Defense Practice

Examiner questions built from the student's own pages.

  • Research Compass

What has already been published on a topic, before they commit to it.

  • Reference Watch

Sources re-checked every week, so a retraction is caught before the defense.

Who it is for

Built for the people who read the drafts

  • Supervisors

With several Master's or PhD students and too little time between drafts.

  • Programme directors

Who want every thesis in a cohort checked the same way before it is submitted.

  • Research group leads

Running weekly or monthly meetings and tired of rebuilding the last one.

  • Graduate schools

Trying a tool with one cohort before deciding for the whole school.

Questions supervisors ask

Common questions

Can I read my students' theses in Thesisroom?

No. You see the reports and meeting packs a student chooses to share. They hold counts and the points you asked about, and, for any tool the student opens to you in full, its findings with the passages they quote. Never the whole thesis.

Can students and supervisors reply to each other?

Yes. Each point is a conversation tied to the part of the thesis it is about. Messages can't be edited or deleted, so the history stays complete.

Does Thesisroom grade or rank students?

No. Thesisroom does not score a thesis, rank students against each other, or say when a thesis is ready. That judgement stays with you.

Does it write any of the thesis?

No. Thesisroom never writes, rewrites or paraphrases a sentence. It checks what the student wrote and shows where it does not hold.

How do students join?

You add each student by the email they sign in with. They get full access the first time they sign in. One seat is yours and the others are for your students.

Where is the data stored?

Thesisroom stores data with Convex in the United States, and model requests are processed in the United States. Before any model reads a thesis, the student's name, email and supervisor's name are stripped. Thesis text is never used to train any model, and students can delete everything at any time.

What happens when the three months end?

Thesisroom shows you the end date before it arrives. To renew or add seats, email support@thesisroom.com. Students keep their own accounts.

Can a department run a pilot first?

Yes. Write to support@thesisroom.com with the number of students and the dates. Thesisroom sets the seats and the end date to match.

Can we pay by invoice?

Yes. The Lab Cohort is invoiced to your group or department. Write to us with the billing details.

What if it is not useful?

Not useful in your first month? Email support@thesisroom.com within 30 days of your first payment and we refund it in full.
